Because we are often in telehealth sessions it is difficult to answer calls immediately. You will likely be directed to leave a message. We return calls as soon as we can. Most calls are returned Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m– 6:00 p.m. The Email inquiries are monitored regularly; please allow 24 hours for a response.
Upon scheduling your first or intake session, you will be emailed a link to our client portal to provide basic information about yourself and complete and sign consent forms. Please note that these forms MUST be completed 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time.
Your first counseling session does not need to be awkward or uncomfortable. You’ve made the decision to improve your life by working with a counselor. This is a significant accomplishment that will benefit you in a variety of ways, and you should be extremely proud of yourself.
However, you are likely to have some reservations about dealing with a mental health counselor as well. This is very understandable. While we cannot promise to help you overcome your worries and feel entirely confident in your path, we can assist in calming your nerves by going over what your first session will be like!
By the end of the first session, you should feel more at ease working with your therapist, have a plan moving forward, and feel like you and your therapist know each other a little better. It’s ideal that you leave the telehealth session with your counselor feeling more assured about your choice to start counseling and prepared to get to work, but it’s also acceptable if you still feel nervous. There’s a reason this is called a process!
Following the completion of the intake, the client and therapist will collaborate to develop a treatment plan. This plan includes particular goals that the client wants to work on in therapy. A treatment plan helps guide treatment and provides a way to measure success in meeting treatment goals.
Typically, once a week or biweekly is a good schedule for most people. Based on your recognized needs and concerns, you and your therapist will decide how often your sessions will take place.
To maximize the potential advantages of psychotherapy, it is critical that you attend your appointments as scheduled. Inconsistent attendance and prolonged absences may be detrimental to the therapy process. If you need to cancel your session, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations received less than 24 hours before the appointment time may incur a $45.00 service charge. Payment for this service charge will be due at your next scheduled session.
